Prof. Elikem Nutifafa Kuenyehia has been appointed by the Government of Finland as the Honorary Consul of Finland in Ghana. In this distinguished role, Prof. Kuenyehia will represent the interests of Finland in Ghana and collaborate with Ghanaian institutions, companies, and individuals to promote mutual benefits for both nations.
This appointment reflects his dedication to fostering diplomatic ties and facilitating cooperation between Ghana and Finland. Prof. Kuenyehia’s responsibilities will be in line with the Finnish Government’s Africa Strategy, aiming to enhance Finland’s political and economic relationships with African countries and The African Union.
In his capacity as Honorary Consul, Prof. Kuenyehia will play a key role in assisting Ghanaian and Finnish companies in gaining access to their respective markets. Additionally, he is committed to encouraging Ghanaian students to explore educational opportunities at prestigious Finnish universities, known for offering courses in English.
Beyond economic collaboration, Prof. Kuenyehia aims to promote cultural exchange and tourism between the two countries. He envisions increased travel between Ghana and Finland, with Finnish travelers exploring the rich cultural heritage of Ghana and Ghanaian travelers experiencing the natural wonders of Finland, including its national parks, the enchanting Northern Lights, Lapland (the official home of Santa Claus), and the picturesque islands along its shores.
The Consulate in Ghana is anticipated to open its doors in late February 2024, marking a significant milestone in diplomatic relations. Prof. Kuenyehia is eager to commence consular services and further strengthen the bonds of friendship between Ghana and Finland.
